The Meaning of Life: What's the point?
In the life span of every human being, there is a moment when they cease to act out of impulse and begin to act through observation. The observation carries a realisation that the world appears utterly different to the one you had previously thought existed. You start to look around at society, strangers, family, friends and finally, yourself; you are no longer under the spell of illusion. Suddenly, all the things you thought had meaning had no meaning at all. Money, status, relationships, love…everything, at its core, has no meaning. You look around and ask yourself, ‘What's the point?’ What is the point of working? What's the point of achievement? Of fame, money, and power if it all counts for nothing.
Perhaps some of you know what I am discussing and have overcome this feeling. Maybe some of you think I am bonkers (don’t worry, I get it). But perhaps some of you are in the depths of this confusing state and have been for some time now. The experience is unpleasant and is likely to be accomapbied by a sense of dread, depression and even thoughts of suicide. After all, if nothing has no meaning, if all that we do amounts to nothing, then what’s the point of living? These feelings are insidious and incredibly difficult to break free from(I know from personal experience).
But do not despair, for there is light at the end of the tunnel. The journey from confusion to enlightenment is a path many have walked, and it is one that leads to a profound understanding of life's beauty. If you have found yourself pondering the question‘ what's the point?’, consider it a sign of your journey towards a deeper understanding.
Yes, I mean it. Consider yourself blessed. These feelings reveal a great truth that exists in all of us. We THINK the physical world defines us; we fall for the illusions of the senses. But we are the masters of our fate; we hold the key that will free us from the chains of suffering. The physical realm, in isolation, has little to no meaning. It does not matter how much power you gain, how much money you earn, how much hair stays on your head, or how many women or men adore you. These things have no meaning, and if you have discovered this, if you are currently wrestling with the emotions that your ego has attached to the dilemma, then yes, consider yourself blessed.
Confusion, frustration, sorrow, and depression are all blessings because they are emotions designed to rip you from the illusion of the Physical world. They propel you towards the answer to life's great mystery: where is the meaning in life? What is the point? The meaning of life lies within the mind. The human mind is a gift; its level of consciousness is far superior to any being on this earth, and its capability gives life value. The point of our consciousness is to see past the illusion of the physical world and connect our soul to a meaningful state. Act out of kindness and love for one another; recognise that we are all connected to the same source. What's the point? The point is to utilise the gift we have all been given, the human mind, to take control of our senses, instead of them controlling us, and reaching toward the higher planes of consciousness.
