Living your best life? If not, then you are probably living in someone else's.
If you are not living your best life, you are sacrificing your dream for somebody else’s. Let's explore why we hold ourselves from living our dreams and how we can start living life to the fullest.
The only thing stopping us from saying ‘screw it’ and living out our best life possible can be boiled down to one word, fear of the unknown. We worry about what will happen to us if we quit our jobs and decide we want to become an artist. We are afraid of the idea of poverty and the struggle. We fear what our friends and family will think of us; we fear the box society will shove us into. The human ego creates a narrative around society and forms a self-image. Years of conditioning and affirmation strengthen one's self-image, intensifying these seemingly complex narratives that our own minds have created. Fear is what keeps the ego alive and maintains the invisible blockades that prevent one from striving towards one's best life.
Most humans never escape the grips of fear, let alone acknowledge that it exists. They live their lives insisting that their fears are based on truth and are not a total fabrication of the human mind, which, unfortunately, condemns them to a deprived level of consciousness. If you are still afraid of the unknown, ask yourself one question: ‘If I am not living my dream life, if I am not even on the path to my best life, then what life am I living?’
My friend, if you are not living your own dream, then you are living in someone else's; since you are not contributing to your own life, you are likely contributing to someone else's.
I asked myself this question a while ago, to which I answered: ‘If I am not living my best life, if I am not living the life I was destined to live, then whose life am I living?’
I concluded that I was living the life of an imposter, a feeble being feeding on the lower levels of consciousness. Although I was human in form, I was no more conscious than a dog.
Living a life outside of the best life you can live, outside of your dream and your destiny, is a life bound to the senses. Such a life, as mine once was, has the illusion of free will but, in reality, is determined by impulse and emotions. My friends, I assure you such a life is not worth living. We have been gifted with brilliant minds and a form capable of carrying out sufficient action. It is our duty to utilise these gifts to the best of our ability. Internalise these truths, and there will come a day in which you decide to give life your all; you ignore all fear and accept any condition that may fall before you as a necessary step to achieving your dream life. The feeling is one of peace and serenity, for if you are not striving to live out your dreams, you are not living.
